Yep. Mexicali's definitely another one. You've put into words just what I was trying to say.

Maybe Big River, too, because with that song you can tell straight away whether they're flying or plodding - I think it's Jerry who sometimes carries the whole thing with that wonderful rhythm guitar line.

Pre-Keith? I'm not sure, maybe Viola Lee or Cryptical; not sure why, maybe more in an instant gratification sort of way

Post-Keith it's always worth checking one of the Bobby songs just to see whether he's bored or not (those stupid accents ...). That wraps up the Bobby stuff for me I think.

Then there's He's Gone, also Scarlet Begonias. Dark Star's first couple of minutes reveal quite a lot.

God we are SO LUCKY; we really should be "saying grace" in some way to give thanks for all these treasures - there's another thread idea maybe.
